MediaGear Zooms In With HD2Go

MediaGear's HD2Go photo viewer sports a 3.6-inch true-color LCD display for viewing your photos - and, of course, it can handle your music and video too.
Digital photography gear maker MediaGear has announced its new HD2Go portable photo viewer, offering a large 3.6-inch 320 by 240 pixel true color LCD display in a portable picture viewer with a 20 GB hard drive which can hold as many as 10,000 photos—or up to 25 hours of video. "The HD2Go is exciting news to the digital photography market anxious for a stepped-up model which is comparable in features to much higher priced devices available today from other manufacturers," noted Tom Wang, Sales Director at MediaGear. "The HD2Go's 3.6 large screen true color LCD display is the most impressive feature. The HD2Go can store over 10,000 digital photos and up to 25 hours of video. The unit can easily display these photos or videos on a clear bright color screen that will 'wow' your friends and family." As an image viewer, the HD2Go supports JPEG and GIF images of unlimited size: good for carrying around, flipping throughm, and sharing even high-resolution images, although serious shooters might want support for RAW files. The HD2Go unit supports video in MPEG 1, 2, and 4 formats, along with AVI, DAT, and VOB video—if you want to hook up to a larger display, the HD2Go sports NTSC/PAL composite and S-Video output. On the music front, the HD2Go has a built-in speaker and headphone output, and can play MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, AC3, and M3u playlists—with ID3 tag support so you have some idea what you're hearing. The unit also sports a built-in mic for voice memos or other recording in either WAV or MP3 format. Users connect to the HD2Go and transfer files via USB 2.0 or using CompactFlash I or II cards. According to MediaGear, the unit's lithium-ion battery offers up to 4.5 hours of life playing video or 15 hours life playing music: an AC adapter lets you use the device as long as the power grid is operational. The device measures 134 mm by 87 mm by 25 mm—roughly 5.27 inches by 3.4 inches by 1 inch. No word on system requirements for using the unit, but the built-in file system us FAT32/FAT16, so we expect MediaGear to recommend Windows 98 or later. MediaGear plans to market the HD2Go directly via their website for $295.95.
