Akimbo Adds Digital Trends Videos
November 02, 2006 | by Geoff Duncan
Can't get enough of DT? Internet-based video-on-demand service Akimbo will be carrying Digital Trends' video library of product reviews, news, and guides.
We know it was just a short while ago we let devoted Digital Trends visitors know that Internet Broadcasting would be putting Digital Trends' video on its Technology Channels. But please bear with us: we need to tell you that the Internet-based video-on-demand service Akimbo will be offering Digital Trends' video content—including buying guides, product reviews, and news—to Akimbo customers free of charge.
In case you hadn't already found them under the Video tab (look at the top of this page!), Digital Trends began producing original video in 2005, offering product reviews, news and trade show coverage, plus buying guides covering categories like digital cameras, laptops, and portable media players.
For $9.99 a month, Akimbo offers its subscribers on-demand access to more than 13,000 videos, including a mainstream movies, TV programs, and series, as well as niche programming and videos spanning roughly 100 categories. Akimbo is currently available via the RCA Akimbo set-top box (which retails for about $200)—but that's not the only way to go. Folks with Windows Media Center 2005 PCs can find Akimbo in the Online Spotlight area, and folks with AT&T's Homezone service will soon be able to access Akimbo content.
Whoo hoo! Video we made! On TVs! Could we be happier?

Josh,
How come you did not put out a press release on your site regarding adding Digital Trends videos? I remember reading about the partnership on Yahoo Finance or something.

Thanks Duncan! I've been watching your reports on my new RCA Akimbo player and the content is outstanding. While I've enjoyed them online, having them on my living room TV is really incredible. Great job on the reviews...
