AT&T is thickening the soup of its broadband movie offerings, teaming with Vongo to offer two-week trials to high-speed Internet customers.

AT&T announced today that it's teaming up with online movie provider Vongo, the movie delivery service from Starz.

Vongo went live earlier this year and offers Windows users broadband access to over 1,500 movies and a streaming Starz TV channel for $9.99 a month, as well as selected pay-per-view titles for $3.99. Users can transfer the selections to as many as three devices (other computers, portable players, etc.).

The new agreement with AT&T sets up a co-branded AT&T and Vongo site from which AT&T high-speed Internet customers can download the Vongo software and try the service for free for 14 days.

"We are delighted to work with AT&T as the first broadband distribution partner for Vongo," said Bob Greene, senior vice president of advanced services for SEG. "This relationship is a major step toward realizing our goal of building a complete ecosystem for digital-movie enjoyment so that consumers can access their favorite content whenever and wherever they want."

The deal marks AT&T's second recent move into providing video content to its customers via the Internet: last week, the company announced plans to integrate services from video-on-demand provider Akimbo into its AT&T Homezone set-top boxes.
