Toshiba plans to roll out a 2 GB miniSD card for cell phones this June, and at $109.99, it's a lot cheaper than a 2 GB iPod.
Toshiba has announced it's bringing a 2 GB miniSD memory card for cell phones to market this June—although, of course, with an adapter it can be used to add 2 GB to any device with an SD slot.
The 2 GB miniSD is designed to appeal to cell phone users, however, whose devices are increasingly taking over roles previously reserved for digital cameras, portable music players, camcorders, PDAs, and portable computers...and are inheriting all the storage issues of those devices. A 2 GB card is big enough to haul around a substantial chunk of a typical music collection and still have plenty of space left over for pictures, video, and document storage.
Toshiba's card features 5 MB/sec write speed and weighs just 1 gram: don't let it float away in a breeze. Expect it in stores this June for $109.99.
