JVC's has introduced two new 32- and 37-inch LCD televisions with lightning fast 120 Hz refresh rates for flicker-free performance.
Consumer electronics maker JVC announced two new 32-inch and 37-inch LCD televisions. What makes the 32-inch LT-32X987 and 37-inch LT-37X987 interesting is not the screen real estate and 1366 by 768 resolutions they offer, but the 120 Hz refresh rate used by the displays, double the typical 60 Hz seen in LCD panels, and substantially quicker than the 75 Hz offered by many higher-quality displays.
The two units use LVC's new Clear Motion Drive, which outputs images at 120 frames per second, and inserts an interpolated image—effectively display two frames in the same time a typical display puts up just one—greatly reducing the motion blur and ghost images often seen on LCD displays. Both units have a refresh time of just 6 ms, which also helps reduce blur.
The displays also include an ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuner, two HDMI inputs, two component inputs, two S-video inputs, 15-pin S-sub PC input, and both analog and optical and analog audio output. Speakers are mounted behind the lower portion of the display and ported out a slot running along the bottom of the display cabinet; the units sport a 20-watt and and MaxxBass technology.
The 37-inch LT-37X987 will be available in August for prices around $2,700; the 32-inch LT-32X987 should be available in October for about $2,000.
