Prey Ships for Xbox 360 and Windows

The highly anticipated combat game "Prey" has shipped for both Xbox 360 and Windows PC. Tommy the Hunter wants you to know it's rated M!

After making a splash at this year's E3 Expo, controversial game publisher Take 2 Interactive and 3D Realms announced that the highly anticipated first-person, 360-degree combat game Prey is now available in stores throughout North America, and will be available in Europe July 14. The games i available in standard (roughly $50) and limited Collector's Edition ($60 to $70, although prices will vary) for Xbox 360 and Windows PCs—although if you're running Windows, check to see that your system meets the game's high requirements.

"Prey revitalizes the first-person shooter genre with a new dimension of features including portal tactics and 360 degrees of gravity manipulating combat in an aggressive living environment," said Christoph Hartmann, President, 2K. "Prey is this summer's definitive next generation game."

Prey centers on the character of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic trapped with no prospects on a reservation. When he and his people are abducted to an alien mothership threatening the Earth, he sets out to save himself, his girlfriend, and eventually the entire planet. The game features stunning graphics and action along with expansion of the traditional first-person shooter format, including wall-walking, portals, gravity-flipping, and spirit-walking—along with support for up to eight people in multiplayer deathmatches.

A demo is available for PC at the Prey web site; the game is rated "M" for mature by the ESRB.
