Nintendo DS Becomes American Obsession

With more than 10 million Nintendo DS systems sold in the Americas, the handheld game console is the fastest selling game system in the world.

Swallow this amazing fact if you can: there are close to nine Nintendo DS or DS Lite portable game systems sold every 60 seconds. Sure, this number may seem small when compared to other addictive products like cigarettes, alcohol, video poker, or Paris Hilton, but this is a gaming system we are talking about.

"More than 5 million people joined the ranks as Nintendo DS owners in America last year alone," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "And right now, they're all saying the same thing -- 'give me more!' Fortunately, no matter your taste or experience in gaming, that's exactly what we're supplying in the months to come."

Nintendo has kept manufacturing yields high in order to meet demand for the popular handheld, and on average has been launching 5-7 news games each month to help keep gamers interested. According to Nintendo, they will launch 20 new DS games within the first three months of 2007. Below is a list of those launch titles:
