May 14, 2007 | by Nino Marchetti

The Lexar JumpDrive Secure II Plus, announced today, integrates an external capacity meter with one of its USB flash drive models.

Lexar is introducing a high-capacity USB flash drive which has an external, built-in capacity meter to show how much storage space is available. The JumpDrive Secure II Plus is available now in sizes ranging from 512MB to 4GB, with an 8GB version expected shortly.

The Lexar JumpDrive Secure II Plus, besides offering the storage capacity meter, has integrated 256-bit AES encryption to provide greater security for files stored on it. Security software on this USB flash drive allows users to reportedly securely delete files and the trail left behind them so they cannot be recovered by file recovery tools.

Lexar, which is building this drive upon the back of its JumpDrive Secure II, said its compatible with both PCs and Macs and is an ideal tool for college students and business professionals on the go.
