Google has acquired GrandCentral Communications, a service that lets users use a single number for all their phones.
Still on its spending spree, Google has made a new acquisition. The search giant has bought GrandCentral Communications for an undisclosed sum.
GrandCentral allows users to use a single number for all their phones, as well as a single mailbox for accessing all their voice messages from the phones – with the mailbox available online. Users also have the ability to register all their phones with GrandCentral so that all or some of them ring, depending on the caller.
Founded in 2005, Grand Central will fit well into the burgeoning Google empire, according to a Google statement released yesterday.
“GrandCentral’s technology fits well into Google’s efforts to provide services that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users.” And, according to a statement on the GrandCentral web site, “Google will continue to beta test the GrandCentral service and support all existing customers, there are no specific product plans to discuss at this time.”
