A Small MP3 Player with a Small Price

SanDisk's Sansa Clip delivers 1GB of storage, FM radio, voice recording, and a display for under $40.
The market for ultra-compact MP3 players just got a little more crowded. Never one to be outdone by competitor Creative, SanDisk announced on Monday its Sansa Clip, a tiny flash-based MP3 player that will compete directly with the Creative Zen Stone in both price and features.
SanDisk will roll out the Sansa Clip with a base price of only $39.99 for a 1GB unit, or $59.99 for a larger 2GB unit. Both players will come with identical features except for storage capacity and the variety of colors customers can select with the pricier model, which include black, candy apple red, hot pink and ice blue.
Besides playing MP3 and WMA audio files, the Clip has an integrated FM radio with 40 presets that it can record from, a microphone for voice recording, and an OLED screen. SanDisk claims the internal battery will last for 15 hours.
The Sansa Clip will hit store shelves in both Europe and the United States in September.
