Xbox Live Welcomes Family Guy to the Family

August 30, 2007 | by Nick Mokey

Microsoft and Fox have agreed to distribute the first and second seasons of the animated comedy through Xbox Live.

While the Xbox 360 is a gaming platform first and foremost, it may be gaining momentum as a platform for content distribution as well. Microsoft and Fox announced on Thursday that the latest show to offer downloads through Xbox Live will be Fox's animated comedy, Family Guy.

The overlap between Family Guy's audience and Xbox 360 gamers is significant. In 2006, Family Guy was the #1 primetime series for men between 18 and 34 years old, which also happens to be Xbox Live's core demographic. “Family Guy is a perfect match for Xbox LIVE," said Jaimie McCabe, executive vice president of Fox's video-on-demand division, in a statement. "The Xbox LIVE community will love having the Griffin family on this platform."

When Family Guy episodes appear on Xbox live on September 2, users will be able to purchase full episodes from the series' first and second seasons, plus “Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin – the Untold Story.” Prices have not yet been announced.
