In-Air Calls In Europe?
October 18, 2007 | by Christopher Nickson
New technology could mean the introduction of in-air mobiles calls in European airspace.
If you’re flying around Europe, in the near future you might be able to use your mobile phone while in the air.
According to a BBC report, you may well be able to use your mobile when in the air and above 10,000 feet in European airspace, thanks to technology that will allow calls to be made without interfering with aircraft systems.
However, that doesn’t mean it will happen immediately. Currently, regulators are suggesting consultations on introducing the technology, and if it’s given the go-ahead, it will still be at the discretion of individual airlines – although it’s unlikely any will shy away from it as customers will expect and demand its introduction.
