Rockstar Games Steam Into 2008

Rockstar Games has signed with game download service Steam for Internet distribution, including all the GTA titles at bargain prices.

It just became a lot easier to buy titles from Rockstar Games. The publisher has signed a deal with Steam to distribute its title over the Internet, joining several others companies, such as Eidos.

Given the continued rise of Steam, which now boasts 13 million subscribers, it seems like a natural move to create deeper market penetration. Initially the company will be making 10 titles available, including  the Grand Theft Auto series, Manhunt and the Max Payne titles.

None of those are brand new, of course, but Rockstar is still betting that there will be a demand for them in this new format, especially as Steam is currently offering them on sale at 10% off, with an ultimate bundle of all 10 games for $53.95.

Rowan Hajaj, head of finance and corporate development at Rockstar Games, told Vnunet,

"We are continually looking for ways to give back to our fans, and this collaboration will give people a chance to easily revisit some of our greatest titles."
