This year the Yahoo Tech! Last Gadget Standing winner is a low-power wireless chip with a 2GB memory card called the Eye-Fi.
It’s become an annual CES event. Last Gadget Standing, sponsored by Yahoo Tech! gives tend gadgets the chance to demonstrate their moves in front of a crowd which then votes for the one that make the most difference.
This year the contenders were the Asus Eee PC 4G computer, the Verizon LG Voyager phone, Dash Express GPS, Sansa TakeTV, iRobot's iLooj robotic gutter cleaner, Toshiba's TDP-EW25U wireless DLP projector, the Logitech DiNovo wireless keyboard, Electric-Spin's Golf Launchpad Tour golf simulator, and Fujitsu's U810 WWAN ultra-mobile PC.
But none of them could match the Eye-Fi in the audience’s affections. It’s a low-power wireless chip with a 2GB memory card that automatically transfers photos from a camera to a Mac or PC or any of the popular photo-sharing sites and social networks.
"The experts always have a platform to give their opinions, but 'Last Gadget Standing' gives the consumers a voice on what's going to emerge as our next gadget idol," said judge Robert Raskin. "'Last Gadget Standing' winners represent the products that people believe will be relevant to their lives for years to come, and not simply disappear once CES is over."
