Navigon GPS Units Offer DirectHelp

Navigon has launched its 2100 and 2120 Max GPS devices in the U.S. and Canada, including a 4.3-inch screen and a DirectHelp feature providing instant links to nearby services.

GPS newcomer Navigon has launched its Navigon 2100 and Navigon 2120 Max GPS models in the United States and Canada (respectively), offering a 4.3-inch antiglare screen, text-to-speech spoken directions, route planning, and a "reality view that provides 3D, photo-realistic views of complex exchanges and intersections, complete with road layout and the actual text that appears on road signs. And, if you get stuck or lost, a DirectHelp feature immediate pulls up directions and phone numbers for nearby emergency services.

"Providing consumers with affordable products, without sacrificing features that play a significant role in their navigation experience, is our top focus when bringing new products to market," said Navigon Americas president Andreas Hecht, in a statement.

Both units feature a slim piano-black casings; the Navigon 2100 ships with maps of the continental U.S. and carries a suggested price of $299; the 2120 Max features maps of the continental U.S. and Canada and sells (in Canada) for a suggested price of $329 CAD. Navigon also offers a $79.99 FreshMaps service with 12 quarterly map updates over three years, a lifetime subscription to a real-time traffic service for $99.99, and a $39.99 option to tap into Zagat ratings for U.S. hotels, restaurants, and other attractions.
