Barnes & Noble Offers Digital Subscriptions

Bookseller Barnes & Noble has announced it has partnered with Zinio to sell digital subscriptions to more than 1,000 magazines.

Bookseller Barnes & Noble has announced it has partnered with Zinio to offer digital subscriptions to more than 1,000 magazine titles at prices up to 90 percent off regular newsstand prices. The service will offer the publications' most current issues, along with over 12,000 back issues available for purchase on a copy-by-copy basis.

Barnes & Noble currently offers subscriptions to print-based editions of many magazines; Zinio also powers the "see inside" feature on Barnes & Noble's site, which enabled users to preview books and other content before purchasing.

"Our magazine offering gives our customers the ultimate flexibility to consume their favorite magazines both digitally and/or in the more traditional print form via a subscription," said Barnes & Noble CEO Marie Toulantis, in a statement. "By growing our relationship with Zinio, and introducing a partnership with M2 Media Group, we will be the only retailer to offer both options in an integrated shopping experience."

Titles available for digital subscriptions include Popular Mechanics, BusinessWeek, Macworld, PC World, American Photo, and Entertainment Weekly.

The Zinio Reader software requires Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Mac OS X 10.3 or newer.
