Who says high-performance notebooks have to be bulky? The Hypersonic Avenger AG2 packs up to a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB of RAM into a portable powerhouse.

Most performance-oriented notebook computers sacrifice a fair bit of portability for speed: sure, they might be able to replace many functions of a desktop system, but they're a pain to lug around. California's Hypersonic wants to bridge that gap with its Avenger AG2, a 12-inch portable notebook packing up to 4 GB of RAM and a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

"We listen closely to our customers, and it became clear that many of our customers wanted a notebook that offers the style and performance that Hypersonic is known for but was more portable," said Hypersonic's systems manager Alessandro Gilligan, in a statement. "The new Avenger 12 inch notebook is our smallest and lightest notebook to date, and offers a combination of Intel Core 2 performance in a surprisingly small and stylish form factor so consumers don't have to make sacrifices when they are on the go."

The Avenger AG2 is available with up to a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 processor, 4 GB of RAM, up to 320 GB of hard drive storage, a 7-in-1 media card reader, and a 12.1-inch WXGA display with a glossy finish. The system uses Intel GMA965 X3100 integrated graphics—so gamers might look elsewhere for high-performance pixel-pushing—and offers an 8× DVD±R/RW dual-layer combo drive. Of course, the Avenger AG2 also packs 802.11a/b/g WiFI and Bluetooth 2.0 wireless networking, an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, a FireWire port, 3 USB ports, gigabit Ethernet, and VGA output.

The system is available with Windows Vista Home Premium and a variety of case colors; prices start at $1,359.
