Amazon To Launch Streaming Video
May 29, 2008 | by Christopher Nickson
Although there are no details, streaming video would crank up the digital offerings from the world's biggest online retailer.
According to Reuters, Amazon head Jeff Bezos let it be known at The Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital conference that Amazon is ready to begin offering streaming video in the next few weeks.
He declined to elaborate on that statement and the company wasn’t giving any more details, but it’s a move that would position it as a direct competitor to Apple. Amazon already has its Kindle e-book reader, music and movie and TV show downloads on its Unbox service, which also works with TiVo.
