Griffin Launches Dual iPhone/iPod Charger
May 30, 2008 | by Geoff Duncan
If you have more than one iPod - or an iPhone and an iPod - the Griffin PowerDock 2 can charge both at the same time.
Accessory and peripheral maker Griffin Technology is now shipping its PowerDock 2, a charging base station for the iPhone and iPod family that offers two charging bays so users can charge multiple devices at the same time. The PowerDock 2 is compatible with iPhones and any iPod that charges via a Dock Connector.
The PowerDock 2 features a brushed aluminum frame with a bit of mass to it, along with a rubber base that helps ensure the PowerDock doesn't slid around on a surface while users are adding and removing their devices. The PowerDock 2 comes with eight Universal Dock inserts for fitting a wide range of iPod models, and is certified by Apple as both a "Works with iPhone" and "Made for iPod" product. Unfortunately, the PowerDock does not offer USB connectivity: if you want to sync your devices, you'll still have to hook them up to a computer.
The PowerDock 2 is available now for a suggested price of $49.99. A version capable of charging four devices at a time—presumably to be called the PowerDock 4—will be available soon at $69.99.
