June 11, 2008 | by Geoff Duncan

InFocus has added DisplayLink USB graphics capability to its IN1100 and IN3100 projectors, making PC connections a snap.

InFocus Corporation has rolled out two new projectors that incorporation DisplayLink USB technology to make connecting to a PC simple and straightforward—without worrying about switching video modes, finding little switches, or installing drivers. InFocus says the new IN11100 series business projectors and IN3100 series multimedia projectors are the first to include DisplayLink USB technology.

"By combining InFocus's expertise in projection with DisplayLink's skills in USB-connectivity, we've developed industry-leading products that make projection more user-friendly," said Infocus CEO Bob O'Malley, in a statement. "Our intent is to eliminate the frustration users associate with projector set-up."

The projectors include DisplayLink's Auto Install feature, which automatically installs appropriate software onto PCs when they're connected to the projectors via USB. The software offers multi-display capabilities, so users can operate multiple projectors and show multiple presentations using just a single USB 2.0 port on their computer.

The IN1110 series projectors offer 2000 lumens of brightness, an 1,800 contrast ratio, and weigh just 2.7 pounds (so they're easy to move around), while the IN3100 series offer 3,000 to 5,000 lumens of brightness and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. The IN1100s carry a suggested price of $1,099 and should be available in early August, with the IN3100 series starting around $1,499 and going on sale June 30.
