SimpleSave DVD-Rs Painlessly Backup Media
June 23, 2008 | by Nick Mokey
By preloading every SimpleSave disc with backup software, Memorex cuts the hassle of saving important images and videos by making it nearly automatic.
You’ve been told time and time again: back up your most important files, lest something catastrophic happen to your PC. But like your dentist telling you to floss, your optometrist telling you to wear your contacts less, or your doctor telling you to exercise more, the advice sometimes goes in one ear and out the other because it’s just too much of a pain. Memorex has catered to even the laziest or most technologically inept users with its new line of SimpleSave backup DVD-Rs. Rather than forcing users to install backup software or manually picking and choosing what gets saved, SimpleSave discs include a small, autoloading backup program on every disc. Users can simply pop one in, and the disc will load, search for media files like pictures and video, then offer to back them up. It’s even smart enough to recognize 90 different file formats, let you pick and choose which to backup, and estimate how many discs you’ll need to do the whole collection. (Just don’t count on it backing up those important tax documents, your half-finished thesis, or your all-important MP3 collection) There’s a slight premium for buying the SimpleSave DVD-Rs, at $14.99 for a pack of five, but considering the cost of buying and installing separate backup software, they may actually save you money in the short term. The discs will be available at Fry’s Electronics and OfficeMax stores nationwide later this summer.

On the subject of file backup, sharing and storage ...
Online backup is becoming common these days. It is estimated that 70-75% of all PC's will be connected to online backup services with in the next decade.
Thousands of online backup companies exist, from one guy operating in his apartment to fortune 500 companies.
Choosing the best online backup company will be very confusing and difficult. One website I find very helpful in making a decision to pick an online backup company is:
http://www.BackupReview.info
This site lists more than 400 online backup companies in its directory and ranks the top 25 on a monthly basis.
