The NPX-9000 only costs $130, but there's a catch — you have to buy in batches of 100.
The world’s cheapest laptop is now on the market, at $130. The Taiwanese-produced NPX-9000 from Alibaba boasts a seven-inch screen, 1GB of flash memory, 128 MB SDRAM, a 400 MHz MIPS processor, and runs Linux, according to Vnunet.
There’s even a Wi-Fi USB dongle as an option – all for $130 - and a VGA port to hook up to a full-sized monitor and and SD card slot.
However, there’s a catch. For the moment, at least, the machines – which are very similar to the early Asus EEE PCs – are only available in batches of 100. That’s handy if you go through a lot of laptops, but otherwise not too useful for most people.
