150 Billion Spam Mails A Day
August 07, 2008 | by Christopher Nickson
A new report says that a total of 150 billion spam mails every day — and yes, penis enlargement products are still number one.
If you’ve receive spam mail lately offering a larger penis or cheap prescription drugs, you’re in good company. Very good company, in fact. Vnunet reports that the new edition of the Secure Computing Internet Threats Report says that 150 billion spam messages are sent globally every day. If that seems like more than ever, it is – the numbers are up 280% on a year ago.
There are, however, changes in spam. Instead of all being in English, these days nearly half of all spam mails come in other languages, German and Japanese being the most popular.
Mike Smart, senior product manager for Secure Computing in EMEA, said:
"This year we've seen the threat landscape change considerably with a 280 per cent rise in spam. Volumes peaked on 27 March with 185 billion spam messages being sent in just one day."
The report also noted the large rise in malicious sites, although spam and malware all have the same final goal – money.

It's likely email as we know it will be rendered useless. Using a good filter like SpamBully is wise. But I think more and more people are conducting personal communications by social networking due to the lack of spam pounding

Using a good spam filter like SpamBully can be helpful. But eventually, email as we know it will be rendered useless. More and more people will move their communications with friends/family to social networks

This is the only time or situtation that I would approve the post office charge a rate for their emails.
