EA Makes Sport of Dueling Celebrities
August 13, 2008 | by Nick Mokey
Celebrity Sports Showdown will pit celebrities against one another in sports like volleyball, inner tubing, and jousting.
Electronic Arts’ previously announced new EA Sports Freestyle label for casual gamers is finally getting off the ground with a completely new franchise: Celebrity Sports Showdown. The first title in the property, announced Wednesday for Nintendo Wii, will give players a chance to compete as their favorite celebrities in different sports-based mini games.
The selection of a dozen celebrities includes well-recognized athletes like Mia Hamm and Kristi Yamaguchi alongside plenty of less athletic choices, such as Fergie and Avril Lavigne. Games will range from the mundane, like beach volleyball and inner tubing, to the bizarre, like air racing and dueling.
EA will release the title in time for the holiday season, when it will retail for $39.99 exclusively on the Wii.
