Lenovo Replaces X300 with X301

The refreshed ultraportable will sport a faster processor, more RAM and more storage capacity.
It seems like just yesterday Lenovo announced its MacBook-Air-slaying X300 ultralight laptop – in fact that was just February. Even still, Lenovo has managed to click the model number ahead just six months later with the introduction of the X301, a newer, faster variant of the machine.
The biggest change to the new machine will be the processor at its heart: Lenovo has moved from an Intel Centrino to an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV (ultra-low voltage) which will be clocked at 1.2GHz or 1.4GHz. Other upgrades include a choice of up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, new 80GB or 128GB solid-state drives, and support for DisplayPort.
Price will actually drop from the existing X300’s MSRP, which stands at $2,725. The X301 will debut on August 26 for $2,599.
