EA Announces Spore Expansions

October 13, 2008 | by Geoff Duncan

Spore has only been out for a few weeks...and already Electronic Arts is announcing add-ons and a new Space stage expansion pack.

Electronic Arts only kicked Spore out the door at the beginning of September, but the company is already announcing add-ons and an expansion pack for the popular game.

The Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack will be available as early as November 18, and will add more than 100 new creature-building components to the game in two divergent styles—you guessed it, "creepy" and "cute." "Creepy" will include scary, monster-like body parts, pain options and backgrounds, while the "cute" portion of the kit will offer more cartoony and charming equivalents.

For gamers who can't get enough of Spore's Space stage, the Space stage expansion pack will enable players to beam down from their spaceships to explore new planets and earn rewards for finishing challenging missions. Players will also be able to create their own custom missions and share them with other players online. The Space stage expansion back should be available in "spring" 2009—we assume EA is referring to northern hemisphere spring.

Electronic Arts did not announce pricing information for either Spore add-on package.
