New mouse from computer peripherals maker features a dpi of 1600 and a button which one click opens a Microsoft Office application.

Another day, another mouse announcement. This time the word on the street is about IoGear's new 5-Button USB Laser Mouse, which the company says is the first peripheral of its kind to offer an immediate application shortcut. It is available now for $39.95.

As the title implies, IoGear's mouse has five buttons. One of these buttons is deemed an "instant access" button which allows users to one click open a Microsoft Office application. There's also a customizable "shortcut" wheel which allows for common tasks to be done in each application.

The mouse's laser is a "Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser", which IoGear says provides 30 times more tracking power than traditional optical mice. The dpi on the 5-button USB Laser Mouse is 1600.

"With today's mobile lifestyle, people are looking for peripherals that are easy to use and can complete a variety of tasks, all in one, compact device," said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR. "On top of providing extremely high accuracy and more tracking power than standard optical mice, our USB Laser Mouse allows for immediate access to the most commonly used computer applications."
