Company announces four new models ranging in price from $899 to $1,399 and sporting Intel Core Duo or Solo processors.

Toshiba earlier this week announced new models for their Satellite A105 series of notebooks. Four new configurations, ranging in price from $899.99 to $1,399, are all available now.

The new Satellite A105 notebooks, said Toshiba, are the A105-S2021, A105-S4001, A105-S4004 and A105-S4014. Depending upon the specific configuration, features on these new models include Intel Core Duo or Intel Core Solo processors, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, a weight of six pounds, a 15.4" widescreen display, a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats, a high-capacity 5400 rpm serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive, DDR2 533 MHz memory, an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG network connection and an "express player" function for playing DVDs and CDs without needing to boot into Windows.

"The Satellite A105 notebook series is designed for people who desire all the advantages of mobile computing but want the screen size, performance and features of a desktop PC," said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing for Toshiba's Digital Products Division, in a statement. "It's an ideal notebook for anyone who wants optimum productivity and multimedia performance in a portable form factor, whether around the home or away."
