The Fujitsu FMV-U8240 looks to be the smallest tablet-convertible UMPC currently out in the market.
Fujitsu announced yesterday they were rolling out a new line of UMPCs, with claims the new U series of ultra-mobile PCs is currently the smallest tablet-convertible format out there. The FMV-U8240, which is the first model of the series, should be available in Japan starting in June. The FMV-U8240, said Fujitsu, weighs only 580g and has a thickness of only 26.5mm. Its convertible style design sports a 5.6-inch widescreen LCD. It is powered by an Intel Processor A110 (800 MHz) and runs Windows Vista. Rechargeable battery life is rated at eight hours and the touchscreen interface lets one tap on the screen to conduct business. Other features of the FMV-U8240 will include a security chip and fingerprint scanner, 20GB of hard drive space, up to 1GB of RAM and a 1.3mm keystroke.
