Iogear's Wireless USB Hub and Adapter Kit is now available, enabling up to three computers o connect wirelessly to up to four USB devices.
Iogear is now shipping its Wireless USB Hub & Adapter, enabling up to three PCs to connect wirelessly to up to four wired USB devices, like printers, drives, scanners, and media players at speeds up to 480 Mbps. Iogear is touting the adapter as the first shipping wireless USB solution certified by both the FCC and the USB Implementer's Forum (USB-IF).
"We are proud to be the first to bring a Certified W-USB solution to consumer and SOHO markets," said Iogear sales and marketing VP Miranda Su, in a statement. "Following a thorough development process, we are launching a product that eliminates excess wiring in the home and at the office, without compromising transfer speeds and productivity. Through collaboration with our partners, we are also ensuring individuals can use Iogear's Wireless USB Hub & Adapter Kit with any future certified products."
The Wireless USB Hub & Adapter features four USB ports for connecting wired USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices; up to three separate PCs can then communicate with those devices wireless from up to 30 feet away. Iogear emphasizes the device will not interfere with Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, or other wireless devices, and the adapter was created with laptop users in mind, and offers low power consumption and a sleep function when the wireless USB connection isn't being used.
The Wireless USB Hub & Adapter is available immediately for $199.95. Iogear says it's compatible with Windows XP with Vista support coming "this fall;" Mac and Linux users apparently don't get to play.
