Manhunt 2 Launches in North America

October 30, 2007 | by Nick Mokey

The dark, gory action game that Rockstar has struggled to publish for months has made it to retailers.

Sharpen your shanks: Rockstar’s controversial thriller Manhunt 2 has finally seen the light of day in North America. After being banned in the United Kingdom, delayed in the United States by an “Adults-Only” rating and finally revised for a “Mature rating in the U.S. (which didn’t catch the game any slack back in the UK), it hit store shelves on Tuesday, a day before its expected release.

“Manhunt 2 has gone through much to reach this day, said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games, in a statement. We are very excited that fans will finally get a chance to experience the magnificent horror experience weve crafted with Manhunt 2.

For those who haven’t followed the game through its development – and necessary redevelopment – the plot will follow protagonist Daniel Lamb, a former researcher for “The Pickman Project,” as he escapes from an asylum for the criminally insane. Along the way he encounters violent opposition and, of course, deals with them violently, hence the original release woes.

Manhunt 2 will be available on the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP.
