CES 2006 Profile: HP (Home Video)

Hewlett Packard unveils a number of new TVs for 2006, including a 37" HDTV LCD with a built-in digital media server.

Besides computers, Hewlett Packard was busy at CES 2006 with product announcement across several different categories. HP unveiled a variety of new high definition LCD, plasma and microdisplay televisions, with the most interesting being a 37" LCD with a built-in digital media server.

HP's new SLC3760N 37" Advanced Digital Media High Definition LCD Television offers up, through its digital media server capability, the ability to connect to a home network so that it can stream wired or wirelessly digital media content stored on PCs. In addition to accessing a variety of audio, video and photo file formats, the SLC3760N can also access Web-based media services such as online photo service Snapfish or online video rental service CinemaNow. Other features of this digital media television include a 6000:1 contrast ratio, motion adaptive screen noise reduction, a 176 degree viewing angle and digital connectivity options such as HDMI, optical digital audio and component video.

The SLC3760N is expected to be available sometime in the early summer of this year.
